Bot of Darkness

BotOfDarkness is an automated Twitter Bot that tweets lines of dialog from Edge of Darkness.

If you're wondering how the bot works...

• The bot runs every 90 minutes or so between 7am and 9pm UK local time. We throttle this deliberately to avoid flooding follower's Twitter feeds with too many tweets.
• The whole process is entirely automatic.
• When running, the bot uses a SQL script to randomly select two adjacent lines of dialogue from the series.
• One or both of these lines can include stage directions.
• Each tweet should be accompanied by a screen grab of the pertinent scene, taken from the 2019 restored Blu-ray release.
• The dialog transcripts are a combination of:
• Subtitle files from the 2019 Blu-ray release.
• The Edge of Darkness scripts, by Troy Kennedy Martin (Faber and Faber, 1990.)
• Watching the episodes lots of times.
• Where the actors diverge from the script, and/or the subtitles, the transcript will follow the actors rather than the script.
